Here in Rockland County, April is all about spring flowers and warmer weather and we look forward to both. This April it’s also about Israel. At Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County, we invite you to remember, celebrate, and participate in programs we’ve put together for you that highlight our connections, emotional and personal, with the people of Israel.

Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day

April 13 at 7:30 p.m.

 

Beginning Tuesday evening, April 13 at 7:30 p.m., join us for Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, and experience what it’s like when all of Israel comes to a halt and remembers its fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. As the sirens begin to sound, you will have the opportunity to stand with all of Israel for moments of silence.

Yom Ha’atzmaut

April 14, at 7:30 p.m.

 

Then the next evening, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. as we mark the end of Yom Hazikaron, we switch gears and begin the celebration of Israel’s Independence Day, Yom Ha’atzmaut. We’re excited to bring you some of the Jewish world’s rock superstars, top musical artists in Israel and America, including David Broza, Nefesh Mountain, Josh Nelson, Shimon Smith, and Rabbi Lisa Silverstein to name a few. Come and celebrate, and if it’s your thing, sing along with these great stars.

Brunch with the Consul General of Israel in New York

April 18 at 11 a.m.

 

Federation is proud to bring you an exclusive, confidential brunch with the Consul General of Israel in New York, Sunday, April 18 at 11 a.m. In this off-the-record session you’ll hear the latest news out of Israel, including all about the incredibly successful roll-out of vaccine distribution for every part of Israel’s population. You’ll hear about the Abraham Accords and the new relationships with Arab nations that heretofore did not recognize Israel. And you’ll hear all about the election that has just taken place, and that will be a subject of discussion for weeks to come.
