Rockets are falling on Israel…again!

Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County has opened a fund to help our sisters and brothers in Israel who are under fierce attack, once again, from terrorists in Gaza.

Since just yesterday (Monday) more than 400 rockets have been fired from Gaza at Israeli targets. Some have landed in unpopulated areas, but too many have landed in places like Sderot—where some Rockland community leaders visited less than a month ago— Beer’Sheva, Ashkelon, and Ashdod and caused serious damage. At least 55 people have been injured, some critically, and a 48 year old man, driving in his car, has been killed. Those who live in the South have been told to stay in their homes close to shelters. All public gatherings have been cancelled, including school for 200,000 kids.

At the time of this writing, there are negotiations underway to broker a ceasefire. We don’t know what will come of these talks and if they will yield success. Or if the rockets will begin to fall on again.

What we do know is the damage has been done.

Jewish Federations of North American, our umbrella organization, is working with our partners on the ground, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JDC and JAFI) to assess the physical damage to and the emotional trauma and provide immediate relief particularly to the children.

As a supporter of Federation and Israel, you have been generous in the past when Israel has come under attack. We’re asking for your generosity again. 100% of your donation will go towards helping the people of Israel recover from this latest attack on the State of Israel.
